Orphangelical

“You meet saints everywhere. They can be anywhere. They are people behaving decently in an indecent society.”

Kurt Vonnegut

“Every saint has a past, every sinner a future.”

Oscar Wilde

The very powerful and the very stupid have one thing in common. They fail to alter their views to fit the facts. Instead, they alter facts to fit their views.

Read in a post elsewhere…

“I left the church, have not gone back and will not return until Christians put love first.”

Have traveled the same path with mother (passed during the covid Ivermectin lie.) And lots of other family and friends…

A few of us kept the faith; haven’t walked away. Some “Exvangelicals” definitely walked away in bitter disgust. Hard to blame them.

I would say the ‘church’ left us and wear the label Orphangelical.

Here’s the stuff that will arrive as you deconstruct your experience, when your psychic healing begins.

Warning. This may be hard to hear.

First I felt pity – like the kind when you see a scared hungry stray cat soaked in a cold rain.

Then I was racked by an unwanted sense of sympathy followed by genuine empathy – I grieve over anyone who exists in the state of fear and gut-wrenching selfishness to which the MAGA movement is chained. They’re anchored to self-dealing and false understanding by hate.

As an Orphangelical – I feel deep loss for them now. It’s sort of like calling for a much loved dog that has run away. Hope they’ll return is wasted. They’re on their own, they cut themselves off from real goodness.

Peace is the final result, acceptance. The whole process kind of follows the death and grieving path. The death of those relationships. I simply do not permit those people to see or know about my life and I certainly don’t pursue them.
