Life appoints to us each an experience of foundational truth. I remains our prerogative to face it or avoid the consequences.
These moments are not about trivial choices, temporal options or simple life direction changes.
Such moments are existential and our response to life is founded upon them. They leave us entirely and hideously alone. There is no one who can help us. We must choose in the vacuum of individual being whether we will or won’t.
The problem is that very few choose to grapple with the monster that plagues our lives. Fear cuts, it knifes into our spirit and the voice of instinct screams, “Run!” governs. With ease we embrace the lie to postpone our pain and avoid unwanted consequences. Entire lives are lived in unexamined flight bedeviled by avoidance. But the monster greets us again, in the end.
We will answer one way or another.
In our emptiness there is but one other voice. An eternal companion that accompanies our sacred individual consciousness. A quiet, unconditional loving presence that cannot lie. And hard truth resonates in those works. Speech so powerfully authoritative, sparkling clear in unmistakable simplicity.
If we listen, we hear. And if we hear we can choose. But we are never alone no matter the choice. The hope is that in our weakness we will choose compunction, be convicted by the voice of truth and respond contrary to instinct and fear.
We will find that the truth is a mighty companion and limitless strength flows through us in it’s hope.
