“This is what the Sovereign LORD,the Holy One of Israel, says: “In returning and rest shall ye be saved; in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength… ”
Is. 30:15
There is a choice: To draw near to the Lord or walk away.
We have been taught in Church to make a “Prayer of Commitment” – the churchy implication is that short of making this kind of vow, souls remain “lost.”
Nothing could be further from the truth.
Some denominations teach even stricter requirements – the necessity of baptism, speaking in tongues, bla, blah bla. This is quite simply doctrinal error. False teaching.
The requirement to be saved from living a life of death? Returning and rest.
Returning and rest. That’s all God looks for.
Elsewhere in this blog, some years back I painted the picture of a prayer of salvation… to elaborate some important notions. To a large extent, the intention is oriented in clarity: If I’m choosing God, what’s that mean?
A place to read a list is here “A Sinners Prayer.” But that’s just knowledge … salvation is a matter of the heart.
Jesus paid the price. There is nothing left to ‘Cover’.
He said “This is the work of God: that you believe in the one He sent.”
Mercy and grace are gifts.
To receive a gift, you hold out empty hands.
There is no earning them by “going, being or doing” – which is to say working for it. No trading. We simply believe & receive.
“In quietness and confidence shall be your strength…”
Letting go and letting God is key. Surrender changes us from the inside out.
