God gave us free will. Why?
Foremost, love cannot exist absent free will. In our being we are free to love or hate.
So what are some other purposes for and how do believers properly exercise one’s free will?
Forcing ourselves into obedience?
Forcing ourselves to …?
“Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will be joyful in God my Savior.” Habakkuk 3:17-18
“I will rejoice.”
“I will be joyful.”
Notice the absence of fear?
“There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.” 1 John 4:18 NKJV
There is an aspect of perfect love that assigns ultimate trust. Unconditional love.
Lord, I would have you “teach me to love like Jesus loves.”
